“How can a painting (or a drawing) as a body represent the aspirations, the frailties, the pompousness, and the anxieties of our online selves,” said Beavers.
A beautiful exhibition depicting sexy and soft but textured lips by the wonderful Gina Beavers. As she continues to explore with the vagueness of different social media platforms she comes back to pastels as a medium for her recent works on paper. Drawing is primitive to the imagery that arises from these paintings, the artist employs a process of layering, building up, rubbing away and shading to create dreamy depictions of the source. Each painting being its own while having similar representative characteristics have the power to stand alone or compliment each other all together.
Personally I’d take the full set, each delicately embracing in its whole totality.
